I did an internship on the maternity floor of a hospital a few years ago because I thought I wanted to be an OB nurse. The nurses and doctors treated those babies like products. It was like an assembly line. You know how on TV they show the nursery in the hospital as this big room of babies all perfectly lined up with their names on the cribs? Yea no. It’s more like a damn jail cell. And the babies are just in these lil plastic cribs that look more like bins, wrapped in blankets, and just everywhere. I went into this “nursery” and there were like 15 babies just in this room, all over the place. The only way you knew whose baby was because they had a name tag on the babies ankle right. But the newborn boys….omg. They had them lined up in their little bins on the wall and I watched as one by one a doctor and a fucking resident (who had no fucking clue what she was doing) circumcised them all. It was horrifying. They strapped their arms and legs down, and went to work on these babies private parts while they are literally screaming their heads off. So the fuck what if they don’t remember being tortured when they get older!! That shit is horrible. HORRIBLE. A few of the nurses even told me, “I can’t even believe you watched the whole thing. When I have kids none of my boys will get circumcised.” Not to mention the fact that when I did rounds with some of the nurses for after birth care, some of the babies are in such shock from being circumcised they don’t eat, they don’t urinate because it burns, and are somewhat lethargic for the first 12 hours after the circumcision happens. Some of the mom’s were freaking out. Asking “is this normal, my baby isn’t eating”. Well you chopped his lil pee pee off, what do you expect? The nurses would feed them bullshit like “Oh that’s normal! He’s just a little upset about the circumcision.” I was in shock. Horrified. is the only word that I can use to describe watching that shit.
Long story short: My children will not be getting circumcised under my watch. Ever.
Never ever ever ever ever ever would I get my baby boy circumcised. I honestly cannot believe that people still do that today, or that they ever did that! Most people I know with circumcised sons did it because of religious reasons. So basically they’re telling me that God created boys with foreskins but immediately wants them to be cut off, what? We need laws protecting baby boys from this ridiculous surgery.
